Overall Satisfaction with Gusto

We use Gusto for payroll right now, but we may explore other tools they offer. We have used Gusto for almost a year now and have had a great experience. The platform works well for us to pay our small staff, and the cost is manageable for a small business like ours. So far, we love it.

Pros

  • Excellent support (chat) - they were quick and friendly to take care of some questions we had
  • Running payroll is super quick and easy through Gusto. It only takes me about 3 clicks til it's done!
  • Gusto communicates well with reminders to run payroll with plenty of time for me to get it done.

Cons

  • So far, the only thing that I have wished for is the ability to make an employee inactive so I don't need to pay for them each month. We have seasonal employees, and having to do the dismiss/rehire process is kind of a pain.
  • Honestly, my sanity is the biggest thing I've gained. QuickBooks was a nightmare and would take 15-20 minutes sometimes to run payroll. They were always trying to sell me something else. Gusto takes me about 90 seconds to run payroll, and when you're running a small business, saving even 15 minutes each time is huge!
Gusto works right every single time. I've never had the platform crash or not function right. It's intuitive and has an excellent user interface. Everything is simple to navigate, and their chat/help docs are great. I wish I had found Gusto much sooner in my biz owner life! I'm super happy with how their platform works each time.
QBO was awful. It never quite worked correctly and was not intuitive at all. Plus, it was expensive! And when we had a problem getting something to work right, it took three days for their customer support team to respond. And they're answer was basically, "Sorry. We can't fix that."

In almost a year, we have had absolutely no difficulties with Gusto. Everything works just as promised. It's the perfect solution for our business payroll. After a horrible Quickbooks experience, I'm thrilled to have found Gusto. And since it integrates with Xero, it's even better! I also like that they aren't constantly trying to upsell me.
