Overall Satisfaction with Harvest

We use Harvest across our entire agency to manage all of our clients, individual projects for those clients, and record billable hours from our team on those projects. We also organize our departments and internal projects to record time spent on non-billable projects. This gives us better insight into balancing billable hours compared to internal projects or new products.
  • Interface design and usability
  • Metrics and reporting
  • Invoicing and online payment options
  • Desktop and mobile apps
  • Definitely an increase in # of billable hours reported
After using Harvest for some time, I thought I would try Toggl. It might have been a lack of experience with the interface, but it didn't seem as intuitive to understand billing, and at the time they didn't have a companion desktop app.
If you're starting out as a freelancer, the free tier is feature packed and suited to start taking on projects and start billing - but limited to 2 projects. As an agency, it's great for managing clients and sub-projects, setting budgets and seeing daily updates on time tracking and billable hours overall.

I think it's great for agencies, but if you're new to freelancing and don't have enough knowledge of billing and contracts, Bonsai might be a better option that provides that support.
