Overall Satisfaction with Harvest

Harvest is used company wide at Level Interactive. It is primarily used for time tracking/integrating with our workflow management software, Asana. Harvest makes it easy to track time throughout the day with intuitive web app design, timers, Chrome extension, and Asana integration. In comparison to other tools that I've used in the past, I find that Harvest offers a far lower impact on productivity.
  • I really like the timer feature. I often add all my tasks at the beginning of the day and turn the timers off and on. This allows for easy and highly accurate management of time spent on agency and client projects.
  • Asana INTEGRATION. Can't say this enough. Although it isn't perfect. I can quickly add all of my tasks to harvest while reviewing them in the morning. The lower the impact on my productivity the better.
  • Intuitive web app design. This takes literally no time to learn how to use. I was up and running with the software in one day. Which is exactly what one wants in software that literally drives the invoicing for a company. Simple is best, don't overcomplicate with new features.
  • Asana integration. I wish that it was easier to sync/map projects from one system to the other. When adding a time from Asana, it does not automatically sync with the task assigned in Asana. This would help make this process a lot easier.
  • Expand the Chrome extension to be able to view your whole day. The extension is limited, but it could use a little bump up in functionality.
  • I would like to get reminders on mobile/email to submit my week for approval. I always forget, but I think that would be really helpful.
  • Quick onboarding for new staff. Less time training means that the staff member can ramp up more quickly
  • Low impact on productivity in daily use. Less time tracking your time, means more time on projects
  • Easy to pull data, and use it for data driven decisions/estimates for future projects
I honestly cannot remember the name of the last time tracking system I used, but I personally prefer Harvest. The tracking software I used before forced users to schedule their services with a timestamp and felt that it was very difficult to maintain this system honestly. I prefer the simple UI in Harvest. Additionally, Harvest is significantly faster, requiring less time for bookkeeping.
Harvest is great for companies, like mine, wherein there does not need a lot of details about when services were recorded or provided throughout the day. Whereas for other companies/non-profits it is helpful to have a calendar and time-based schedule to prove that service took place in a certain window.
