Heap - Analytics and Tracking out of the Box - No Engineers needed
Overall Satisfaction with Heap
Heap is used by the Data team and Product team generally but all the data that is passed from Heap to our Data Warehouse is used to power analytics across the business. Heap allows us to have tracking and events with little reliance on engineers for events. It also allows product managers and users to set up dashboards and do analytics very easily.
Pros
- Out of the Box Tracking
- Retrospective Definitions
- Easy to use Graphs and Analytics
Cons
- The ability to adjust graphs colours to ensure that say Mobile users are always blue across every graph
- Real time data out
- Heap increased conversions by allowing us to focus on the areas of the funnel that were weakest.
- Allows us to pick up bugs or issues quickly reducing lost sales.
- Allows us to measure marketing campaigns better for better ROI on spend.
Heap allows you to track and define events yourself without engineers. It is more expensive than some other analytics tools like Amplitude but it has out-of-the-box tracking that Amplitude does not have. The out of the box tracking allows us to have much better insight into what our users do as you cannot always plan for everything and don't want to miss past data. The data also goes to our data warehouse and is clean, allowing the data science team to have access to data for models and the analytics team can use this data for their purposes.
