Overall Satisfaction with HID DigitalPersona (formerly Crossmatch)
Medical staff needed a way to quickly log in to computers. We added card readers and HID DigitalPersona software. Our existing employee ID cards were compatible with both. It was easy to link their ID cards with the software, a one-and-done setup for each user. After that, just a quick scan and they are logged in. MFA is in the form of 4 digit number for first-time login of the day. After logging in, a card scan gets them to the desktop quickly.
Pros
- Logs users on quickly.
- MFA for security (4 digit code in addition to card scan for the first login of the day).
- We have multi-user logins on the medical floors and HID DigitalPersona really helps speed the login process.
Cons
- We have a lot of employee turnover. Recovery of license could use a little streamlining. Currently a manual process.
- Other than that, the product just does what it does. Kind of set it and forget it.

Allows medical staff to quickly log in, allowing them to focus more on patient care. When time is crucial, and staff has to set down things they are holding to type their password in, it keeps them from getting on with their duties. With HID DigitalPersona, just a quick swipe of their ID card, and they're off to the races!
As HID DigitalPersona integrates with AD, it allows users to register their ID cards with their AD login which is stored in AD. This provides added security to their logins. A quick swipe of their ID card and they are in. Quicker logins mean better patient care and that benefits everyone involved.
All PHI (Patient Health Information) applications as well as any and all systems and applications the user has access to. Security of PHI in the health system is paramount.
It just logs them on quicker. Azure AD integration offers more security as well.
- Users are happy with it.
- ROI would be difficult to quantify.
We have not used any other product previously for ID card login. We did look at other products, but they were too invasive or too complicated. HID DigitalPersona was simple to implement, and it just works.
