Overall Satisfaction with Insightly

Insightly enables me to keep track of customer opportunities which I would otherwise forget. I set tasks for contacting the customers on a regular basis and keep track of emails, notes and contact info. It is commonly accepted that customers need multiple contacts with a vendor before making a purchase decision.
  • Tasks Lists
  • Contact Info
  • Keeping Notes about prospects
  • Automatic linking of new emails or Tasks to an Opportunity. This is a manual process. Once you send an email, or copy Insightly on an email, you need to remember to find the contact record for the person's email, then manually associate the email or new task with the Opportunity. It seems that Insightly could be improved by making this process automatic.
  • Increased Sales
  • Improved efficiency
  • Centralized contact management
Using Insightly has improved sales from the perspective that sales have been generated just by following up with contacts while entering the info into Insightly. Efficiency has been improved by having all of the customer info and interactions all in one place for easy review. No need to go into multiple systems to get this info.
I looked at other systems like Zoho, SugarCRM. I had seen interesting videos about Insightly and had read through a detailed article written by a customer showing how to perform the setup of the funnel and tasks.

Overall, I was impressed with the ease of use of Insightly. And also by the pricing structure. I wanted to start out with a system for free so I could use it for a significant amount of time before actually making a decision. I will be happy to move from the free tier to the paid tier once I have used up my free tier credits. Through that much usage, I have validated that the system works for my business, and has actually generated revenue for my business.
Insightly is well suited for keeping track of prospects who may actually become paying customers. It requires time and multiple contacts with a prospect to make this happen. It is extremely helpful to click on an opportunity and see all of the activities which have occurred with the opportunity: Contacts, Emails, Notes, Tasks.

I have not found Insightly to be that useful for managing projects.

Using Insightly

In general, Insightly is an very easy to use CRM package - this is a key reason I have chosen to use it.

But when adding tasks, or sending an email for instance - these items are not automatically linked to the Opportunity. For instance, and email is known to be associated with a specific Opportunity by Insightly. But when I send an email, I need to go search for the email I just sent, and then manually link the email with the Opportunity.

The same can be said for tasks. I might be viewing an Opportunity record and add a task. I would expect that the task should automatically be associated with the opportunity and the contact - but this doesn't occur unless I make manual changes.

These are known requests to the Insightly development team - but at this point in time, have not yet been added as features.
