Why We Chose Litmus Over Email on Acid
Overall Satisfaction with Litmus from Validity
Litmus from Validity is essential in the success of our email campaigns. Being in the email industry even prior to Litmus, we had experienced inconsistent rendering across devices, lengthy quality assurance cycles, and little insight into decker ability. Litmus solves each one of those problems by allowing us to preview live on each device, spam filter check, and ensure any included links are embedded. Simply put, Litmus allows us to feel confident we are launching those campaigns without hiccups. Their collaboratives connect our designers to the marketer and quality assurance team while also saving us time in turnaround. The thorough post-send analytics give us actionable insights to delve into how well the campaign engaged the audience and helped to refine our strategy. Whenever we use Litmus as part of our workflow, we can deliver campaigns with confidence, knowing they land in the inbox (not the spam-folder), are going to render looking pristine regardless of the device choice and importantly have measurable impact on engagement, conversion, and overall ROI.

- From Time Savings to Higher Engagement: The Business Impact of Litmus
Being able to do testing and analysis in Litmus embedded in our marketing platform has been a huge win for productivity. Before we would export our email, test it separately, then re-import any changes; which was a slower and less reliable process. Now, we can preview designs, validate links, and identify spam, all in real time and without leaving the environment we build the campaigns. This has shortened review cycles, created a higher accuracy, and reduced context switching, all while saving hours of work per campaign. It genuinely allows us to send higher quality emails faster, with the least friction, and focus on strategy and results - not just on QA or a manual process.
Litmus offered us a more in-depth overview of how people genuinely engage with our email campaigns. They show us not just opens and clicks; they also share reading time, device usage, and heatmaps of how attention is directed so we can better understand things like when subject lines were too long, when content could be edited down, and when the best place for the calls to action were within the body of the email. Really, what they have done is taken the guesswork out of email marketing and helped us build relationships with campaigns that are purposely connected, interesting, and convert.
Using Litmus Personalize, we easily customized content dynamically by applying things like product recommendations and location-specific store details. The set-up was easy to use and the real-time personalization was great for engagement and click-through rates. Although the more advanced customization required some knowledge of coding, we were pleased with the overall effect—campaigns seemed more relevant, which helped build a connection with our audience.
We evaluated Litmus against Email on Acid and ultimately opted for Litmus due to its more expansive functionality and workflow. In fairness, Email on Acid offered a good rendering tool, but Litmus went further with engagement analytics, heatmaps and read time insights. Collaboration tools and integrations with Salesforce also allowed us to more efficiently test, optimize and approve our campaigns. Litmus ultimately offered more than just testing. It provided the kind of strategic insights required to scale email programs and deliver measurable ROI.
