Overall Satisfaction with LogicMonitor

It is currently being used by analyzing not only our core switches, but also our data centers, servers (to include VMs), and IDFs all throughout our facilities. We can find faults within our networks, view down switches, view switch configs, or any other sort of critical issues that may occur that we are not aware of. This is a key part of infrastructure as we handle various locations not only in CA but through out other areas.
  • I think the best feature is the SaaS itself. The availablity at a webpage makes things really up to speed on the ever expanding cloud platforms taking over.
  • It also doesn't boggle up the space in your email boxes sending consistent messages that aren't as critical as they should be. It simply expresses just the facts.
  • Finally the ability to oversee all operations over a single customizable window pane makes it extremely intuitive and convenient.
  • Although it can be done, setting up what devices are connected to a certain appliance or switch can be a tedious task as it is a long manual process. I would love to see this get easier over time.
  • The log monitoring can be a bit of a pain. I have heard there is talks of this getting closer to its competitors like Splunk but they are not there yet.
  • Man hours worked was a lot less. Safe to say we saved at least 75k a year in overtime hours.
  • Assisted with any deployments and any issues that arose. Saved countless hours in uptime for production.
  • The only downside is it is a tad bit more pricey overall as a SaaS.
Domotz didnt cover all devices, for example MacOS devices. Which we dont have a lot of but are still critical to monitor on our network. Solarwinds Network Device monitoring was free and great, however the display was a bit much. Also had a lot of stuff we didnt really need to look at. We wanted more of a one stop shop to view how things looked on our network at a glance and more intuitive to understand. Logic Monitor fit that role. Similar to Solarwinds, PTRG was cost effective until you reached over 100 endpoints, but took a while to understand and learn. With Logic Monitor we had exceptional support and training at all times. Which wasn't always the case for the other options.
We are a hybrid environment, some things on-prem and others via cloud. We were monitoring a little over 100 devices within our organization. We managed about 15 locations in the United States and 1 location in Australia. This provided a clear view of what are network looked like just by glancing at the home screen.
Our experience with implementing and maintaining Logic Monitor was nothing shy of exceptional. We were able to deploy it well ahead of our expectations. Just by using the auto-detect device feature, we were able to get it up to include stragglers in less than a week. Comparing this to something like Solarwinds was night and day difference.
We were able to retire at least 3 items from our inventory in terms of tools for monitoring our network. To an extent, even some switch processes for configuration as well. It provided clear visibility into issues we had, or ones we didn't know about. We saved a lot of man hours by being able to detect issues before end users could report them, and even collecting configurations automatically.

SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (npm), Domotz, Splunk Cloud
We would have random issues where sometimes a switch would die and we would lose configurations. With Logic Monitor, we were able to have the latest configuration changes synced and never had to worry about misconfiguration on the new switch. It saved us countless of hours of work, to include mass deployments of new equipment during a refresh.
