Overall Satisfaction with ManageEngine Endpoint Central

We leverage almost all features of EndPoint Central to manage our endpoints, all operating systems are supported. The product allows you to deploy patch, packages, a self-service portal is available to the users, you can monitor encryption, manage inventory (software and hardware) as well as application blacklisting/whitelisting. It successfully achieves the goal of controling, operating maintenances and remotely managing our endpoints.

Pros

  • Deploying packages and maintaining our software up-to-date
  • Collecting hardware and software inventory
  • Generating reports (OOTB or Custom)
  • Offering tons of features in a single interface

Cons

  • The patching and vulnerability management features provides misconfigurations reports but is not always helpful as of how to fix it
  • The patch management feature doesn't really allow you to exclude and justify why, sometimes products can't be patched but a remmediation exists
  • The dashboard of vulnerabilities take into accounts all machines which create a false sentiment of being behind while some machines might be off for a long time for a reason (only way is to delete them which makes you lose track of the asset in your inventory)
  • The whitelisting feature will find thousands of applications, there is no convenient way to go around and to whitelist them without spending hours and hours on it
  • The encryption/bitlocker feature doesn't allow to encrypt the device remotely
  • Positive impact in helping IT patch more effectively as well as bring dashboards to oversee the state of the overall IT assets
  • Negative impact is minor as we would want additional features which will help with our user acceptance when patching their environment
  • Another aspect is that Manage Engine doesn't take into account when you have multiple of their products, and this is unfortunate as one might expect discount granted you are a loyal customer and are investing time and money into their products (as well as providing quality feedbacks for them to improve)
The product will require some time to be familiar and learn how to use the full extent of its capabilities. However, it remains fairly intuitive to use and the UI is well thought out. The different sections are clearly separated and accessible from the top ribbon which makes it easy to navigate and access them.
Endpoint Central offers a stack of possibilities for a very affordable price tag. The support team is very knowledgeable and the product clearly competes with other software on the market. It offers a more robust and scalable solution that some of the competitors. Regular updates are provided which allows for a continuous improvement overtime.

It will deliver as promised and might surprise some in the amount of features provided and the agility of the product that allows for many customizations to tailor to one's environment.

Using ManageEngine Endpoint Central

8 - Within the IT Departement from support to infrastructure and cybersecurity teams, all members are using Endpoint Central to effectively manage the organization's assets, maintain and enforce controls and compliance over the organization' endpoint.
4 - These technicians have ManageEngine certifications and training to support the Endpoint Central parameters and help the rest of the team work on the portal efficiently.
  • Vulnerability and Patch Management
  • Software and Hardware Inventory
  • Package deployment
  • Device Control
  • Application Control
  • Maintain compliance based on a set of required controls
  • Correct misconfigurations of endpoints
  • Just in time access
  • PAM
The product is great but has some weaknesses and could benefit from additional features. However, it will answer most requirements for organizations and the support is fairly good and responsive.

Evaluating ManageEngine Endpoint Central and Competitors

Yes - We successfully replaced EMCO Software which was hard to maintain and created some issues overtime. The product was not anywhere close to offering all the features embedded in EndPoint Central, this was a great move and happened years ago.
  • Scalability
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
The ease of use tied to the compatibility across Operating Systems. If it's not easy to commission, maintain and use on daily-basis it would have been hard to implement and adopt, but fortunately this wasn't the case with EndPoint Central.
I'd evaluate different vendors for the sake of comparison, ask more questions to ensure that the commissioning addresses the organization's concerns today which are different from the ones from yesterday. Having an expert helping and assisting is crucial to ensure that the product is correctly implemented and maintained overtime.
