Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I have been using Miro regularly in my bachelor's and master's level seminars for 2 years now. Miro is not used across the board in the faculty or within other organizational units of the university. For me, Miro solves the problem of simultaneous communication with my students during individual seminar sessions.
  • Collaborative work.
  • Bringing people together.
  • Making learning progress visible.
  • Playing videos for all members of a board at the same time.
  • GIF embedding.
  • Complaints from students decreased significantly.
  • The respective learning progress became visible to all involved.
  • The time required to achieve certain learning objectives could be greatly reduced.
As soon as many students (more than 40) are working with large images or videos at the same time, there are delays that sometimes disrupt the workflow. Poor internet connections on the part of the students are also a problem with regard to performance.
Miro can be easily and intuitively integrated into the learning units. Unfortunately, some students sometimes have major problems when using Miro for the first time. Direct integration into platforms such as Big Blue Botton would be very helpful.
Students could use Miro well and quickly for projects within seminars. The feedback I received was always positive. Especially the possibility to follow the work progress of others was often positively emphasized. However, in the context of the university, I use other platforms for working on individual and cross-cutting projects, simply because Miro has not yet caught on in my university.

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

What I like about Miro is the possibility to work together on the boards in real-time, the infinite expandability, the integration with Google, Slack, Dropbox, and Microsoft Teams as well as the export of the boards with high resolution. Moreover, the infinitely expandable and zoomable canvas allows to collect ideas, work out strategies, organize tasks and collaborate with participants.

In my opinion, Miro is suitable for all digital teaching and learning formats in which several people are involved in parallel. It is less suitable for pure input sessions. A positive aspect is the short training period and the flexible use, which means that it can be used in many different ways and at low thresholds.
