Overall Satisfaction with Miro
I use it to collaborate with and instruct UX design students. I use it to collaborate with other faculty members. With students, I use it to solve the problem of how might we engage students in active learning. I also use it as a digital whiteboard on which they can post their work for in-class reviews.
Pros
- Setup is really easy.
- Granting the appropriate permissions/access is easy and clear.
- The learning curve for my students and other collaborators is small. It is easy to get them up to speed and contribute to the board.
Cons
- When drawing, I wish there was an automatic or natural way of grouping individual strokes. It can get kind of messy when trying to move drawings or handwritten notes around on the board.
- It saves us time having to ask where is such-and-such information is. Every class or every product feature has its own board.
- It saves time on design critiques. It is easy to point to a specific item on the board and provide verbal and hand-drawn feedback.
During COVID, Miro was extremely helpful for engaging students in live-streamed courses.

- MURAL (formerly Mural.ly)
Miro had a better UI. Also, management of boards and user permissions is easier and makes more sense in Miro.
