Overall Satisfaction with Miro

Being able to collaborate in real-time. We use it for design thinking exercises - mind mapping, journey mapping, etc
  • mind mapping, creating sticky notes
  • creating collages or brainstorm boards
  • bundling and organizing complex content
  • Templates - the journey map template is arduous
  • Frequent crashes with too many users, some users get locked out (25+ people)
  • Hard to understand how to share and how the various levels of accounts are organized.
  • Miro has helped our virtual students participate in a way that is fluid and meaningful to group projects instead of being left out.
  • Miro has helped to create a collective space for group projects, replacing scattered assignments and entries.
We have been able to use the free version. It's sometimes unclear what is free or not free, or where you'll hit a wall. It is also unclear if there is a classroom-appropriate license fee for a set term for a set number of students versus something like an enterprise fee that you'd buy for a company.
Miro is fairly easy to get up and go. With relative ease, documents can be uploaded into Miro.
Miro has helped to improve classroom inclusivity - remote students can contribute meaningfully to group projects. It helps to address hybrid classes of remote and in-person students.

Miro is less complicated from the get-go.
Miro is great for in-classroom collaboration. It was especially helpful with unpredictable covid-related absenteeism, regularly replacing exercises where we would use paper sticky notes and whiteboards in the classroom. Students readily adopt the design tools, recreating layout from templates and as exercises compile, it helps them to show the journey of their work as the Miro Canvas builds outward. As the professor, I can see where teams are at and make suggestions.
