Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I use Miro alone as well as in a team, I find it useful in both ways. Starting from alone usage, I can keep brainstorming and research boards always updated and online, accessible from everywhere and at every time. I do strategic, product, and industrial design. The topic of the content inside is variable from research to business canvas. DOing also this kind of work, templates and models are useful as well as the improved "mapping" functions (blocks, posts, arrows, all automated now). I find it useful for creating presentations to export in pdf, in some cases better than Figma and always a lot better than google slides.

Pros

  • sharing
  • layout
  • models

Cons

  • add rulers and guides
  • gradients and shadows
  • shadow elements (sync)
  • interaction
  • speed
  • memory
  • responsiveness
the learning curve is quick, everyone in the team accepted the introduction really quickly. The UI is simple and recalls a couple of design software we were already familiar with. Many shortcuts and inputs are exactly the same as one of these widely used softwares. In any case, the simultaneous usage made it easy also to explain to later adopters in the team.
as I said very easy and quick integration as we work with graphic design softwares similar to this. Learning other functions was easy as the interface has the right amount of information leaving much room for the whiteboard. No tutorials are needed, just open every tab up and click on things, very easy understand
That was fundamental as we are based all around the globe, we were often connected from Portugal, Brazil, Italy, and the US as part of our team was home because of pandemics. The collaboration side is really fast and it's immediate never experienced much lagging with a good internet connection and a proper computer.

  • MURAL (formerly Mural.ly) and Figma
The experience isn't that far from the other products, it's just better and so more convenient to choose, Mural was probably similar when I left it, I assume that now miro has stepped forward more looking to the recent developments. Figma is not really good for collaboration on my side, it's slow and doesn't deliver much more as presentation making.
Miro is fundamental in today's working environments as the global pandemic has driven people far from each other in some cases and everybody recognized that having a virtual space where digital things can be stored in an interactive way makes life easier. This is meant to be especially in situations where more than 2/3 of people are working together.
