Is it M-ee-ro, M-ai-ro or Miró like the painter?
Overall Satisfaction with Miro
Apart from sketching/doodling ideas without a structured form, mainly three uses: as a simple to-do list without many frills, since I don't have permission to create one in Jira, and anyway, it would be like shooting a mosquito with a bazooka to help in presentations along with Powerpoint as a communication tool to coordinate and communicate the work of the team(s) both internally and to the outside world.
Pros
- Integrating with other applications.
- Drawing graphs in real time (e.g. during presentations).
- Offering a vast array of tools to communicate ideas effectively.
Cons
- Performances: big boards can be very slow to browse.
- Voting can sometimes be confusing.
- The dashboard could use a little bit more structure (labels, folders...).
- Preparing a presentation in a week would have taken much more if I had only used a static slideshow.
- Optimizing the amount of time spent in brainstorming with the rest of the team.
I work a fully remote job which allows me the autonomy I need in order to be fully productive. That would have been impossible without the right tools. As Allen Holub puts it, communication effectiveness improves with the richness of the communication media. In terms of richness, Miro certainly goes above and beyond to deliver the goods.
