Miro review.
Overall Satisfaction with Miro
I use it to plan and design user interfaces for web applications used by staff in the prison and probation service. I use it for all kinds of collaboration – for planning and delivering workshops, building user journeys, and collecting user feedback during usability testing sessions. My team all work remotely, so it's an invaluable tool.
Pros
- Collaboration. I like features like "bring everyone to me" as it helps to focus attention on a particular point.
- Encouraging creativity. I like how timers give opportunities for focused work.
- Aiding idea generation. I use it to collect ideas from others on my team, so post-its are essential, as are the different ways the platform allows you to organize/sort them.
Cons
- I find text boxes a bit hard to manipulate sometimes. For example, I don't think you can have text that is different size. When I enlarge one block of text in a text box, everything else enlarges too.
- This is probably a silly one, but sometimes I get confused by the scale on Miro boards. I might create a big frame and start adding some post-its, then add a screenshot of something and find I've made everything really small or really large.
- It's definitely improved productivity. Working remotely would be a lot harder without Miro.
- It helps us to work in the open. One of the principles of design in government is about working in the open. Miro makes it really easy to do this. Instead of laboring over some slides, you can collect work on Miro as you go along and just direct people to a board if they want to know how something is progressing.
It's made a huge impact on collaboration. Miro is used in 90% of meetings I attend and by and large, helps them run smoothly, while the collaborative features help to make them more interesting. I think it's one of the most important tools I use - especially when everyone I work with works remotely.
Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?
Not sure
Are you happy with Miro's feature set?
Yes
Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?
I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process
Did implementation of Miro go as expected?
I wasn't involved with the implementation phase
Would you buy Miro again?
Yes
I think the Miro UI is a lot more intuitive. Miro has a better suite of additional features above the core "virtual whiteboard" offering.
