Overall Satisfaction with Miro

Miro allows our colleagues to collaborate remotely on projects from the outset. As a tool, it enables us to work in ways that wouldn't otherwise be possible. We find Miro to be an invaluable way of bringing all the assets for a project together to focus our research and ideate collaboratively. Throughout a project, the Miro board is the single constant source of reference for everyone involved.

Pros

  • Allows rapid, collaborative generation of ideas and information.
  • Allows equally rapid organization of these ideas and information into groups that make sense and help move the project forward.
  • Allows colleagues and third-party guests to all view and contribute to a living document that enthuses them.

Cons

  • The way that users are categorized into pricing tiers is not realistic. We have some "frequent" or "power" users who create and use boards every day. In Miro's pricing structure, these users are treated the same way as someone who goes to a board once every few months and places a single sticky note.
  • There needs to be an "occasional user" tier for these users who are likely to never create boards and whose only contribution when they view a board is to (for example) place sticky notes.
  • The interface for Miro is overwhelming for those casual users (see above) who do not create or edit boards themselves and who only view / edit boards occasionally. Such users (who form the majority in our organization) really only need to place sticky notes, so the full Miro interface is unnecessary for them - and also puts them off using the tool. They are intimidated by all the tools and options. We would like there to be a "Miro-lite" interface for these such users, which only includes very basic functionality (e.g., stickies) and which doesnt allow these users to easily move elements on the boards (which is another thing that scares these users - they're worried about breaking things).
  • Miro has improved productivity as it allows us to have a home for an entire project lifecycle in one place. We find that even design is done in Miro at times rather than in a separate design package.
The ability for remote colleagues to collaborate on Miro boards is what brought us to the product in the first place during the pandemic. Now, as we have hybrid working, we continue to use Miro more than ever. We find that multiple trips into the office or to other locations for colleagues are now often unnecessary, thanks to Miro.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

For any scenario where you have colleagues working remotely, Miro is an extraordinarily useful tool that will genuinely transform the way that your organization works. In its current guise, it is less well suited to scenarios where there will be a significant number of users who are uncomfortable using "design" type tools. The UI has a lot of features that can be intimidating for casual users who only (for example) want or need to put sticky notes on a board.
