Overall Satisfaction with Miro
I am creating a Service Blueprint for the core business. And I am collaborating with more than 50 people in order to harmonise everyone's knowledge within a single Miro board. Besides that, it is important for me to check over previous documentation about our core product to understand and implement them in my Miro board when necessary. I checked over lots of Miro boards of the organisation, and here are the main topics: Discovery of a product scope, brainstorming, taking notes for the meeting, user journey/flow. Besides business problems, I use it for my EOY reflections (performance review) with my supervisor.
Pros
- Creating a holistic view of something way too complex. I am able to see an overview of a journey without any further details when I zoom-out. But of course, that is also dependent on the board structure and the talented designer of the board.
- Ability to zoom-in a lot in the details when necessary. I do use the "linking" feature a lot. I give a high level information in my main table; and create another detailed flow/information frame, so that anyone can click on the link in the high level information, and zoom-in to the details even more. And this linking can go to infinity.
- Sustainability: I've created a template for the blueprint, and now at least 2 teams are using the same template. It can used for years now. It is time efficient. Just copy and paste.
- Miroverse & all the other templates & Youtube videos: When I'm trying to find a way to make the information in a way big board more visible, I can always look for examples and suggestions anywhere. That helps a lot and saves my time.
Cons
- The tables need to be easier to use and more efficient. I created a summary table for my service blueprints, but it was too long. I had to use a spreadsheet since I needed filtering, freezing a few columns, etc. But I would really want to use my Miro board as my single source of truth.
- I need to use bold, italic styles in the cards.
- I need to assign more than 1 person to the cards.
- My current board is too large. So, my board is slow from time to time. I use external convertal websites to downsize my images in the board. It would be good if I could do that with a single click on my board.
- More use of AI: I use ChatGPT a lot for some advises on the tools or the ways of working. I know Miro Assist in in beta version, but it can be used to find out a few templates and even create new templates (or solutions) according to my needs. Oh, that would be awesome.
- I need to see the version history for specific sticky notes, shapes and/or tables. All I can see is the overall version history of the board in which is impossible to find out specific information, or I can see the creation date (an person) and the last updated date (and person). They are not enough sometimes.
- This goes to "less impact" area but: I would love to have Italic style for Spoof font as it is my favorite.
- Increased communication between teams: as there are some single source of truth boards, everyone can see the details in a single boards, and reach out to the right people when necessary.
- Reduced discovery times: some teams are doing the discovery for the same specific problems or solutions. When we document them clearly on the board, it can be used by everyone. I don't have to schedule a 30 mins meeting with the PM if they already have a Miro board explaining their products clearly.
- Improved productivity: Having a white-board in front of you really helps to explain and also understand the ideas more clearly and use "yes, and ..." approach.
I am working remotely and have colleagues across Europe. So when describing an idea or a project timeline or a scope, Miro helps a lot as a collaboration tool. When you are working face-to-face, you can use paper and a pencil (like I used to do), so you definitely need a free empty page to explain your (sometimes complicated) ideas and define them better. It is also helpful to SHARE with people. Having online meetings is like basically calling someone, but when we use Miro together at the same time, it feels like we are in the same room.
