Miro for Product Managers.
Overall Satisfaction with Miro
The most common use cases for Miro within my organization are workshops for brainstorming ideas and planning the next period (usually quarterly). The platform is handy for organizing seminars as it is intuitive and allows stakeholders from different parts of the org to join without too much of an initial investment in the learning curve. As a product manager, I also use Miro to create Flow charts to visualize technical solutions or user flows.
Pros
- Creating sticky notes with ideas and assigning the creator's name for more details is easy.
- Creating diagrams and flow charts is easy.
- Voting during workshops is easy.
- Onboarding stakeholders through the org is easy.
Cons
- The feature set is a reach, but if there is one thing I would change, it is the prebuilt templates. In some cases, I wanted to visualize something but could not find a suitable template. Investing in a more extensive library of templates could be beneficial. For example, a product manager may not be as good as a designer at creating a vivid combination of colors as a designer can. Still, in many cases, while the PM is working, they either don't have enough design support or can't wait for the task to be prioritized.
- Given its ease of use, Miro can positively impact productivity and, hence, reduce the time wasted experimenting with different tools.
- The prebuild capabilities for creating diagrams and flow charts also boost the team's productivity and reduce rework.
My organization is a remote-first company. By utilizing Miro's online whiteboard, our team successfully conducted workshops and brainstorming sessions for planning the upcoming quarters. In those sessions, we generated ideas by listing them on sticky notes and voting for them.
