Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We needed a way to do collaborative client presentations. We are working on a design project for a client, and the decision-making team has over 25 stakeholders across about 10 time zones. We chose Miro to be able to create collaborative presentation boards where stakeholders could make comments, view other people's comments, and reply to comments. This allowed the client team to more quickly assess the stakeholder landscape and come to a decision about the project's creative direction. From a presentation perspective, the voting tools were also great at taking the client's temperature in certain creative directions. The commenting tools were invaluable as they stayed on the board after a live presentation (EU) so that the stakeholders in the next live presentation (APAC 8 hours later) were able to see what the team gravitated towards in other live presentations. Internally, we are using it for brainstorming boards and mood boards. The ability to have several people add images, participate, and comment has taken our mood boards to the next level.

Pros

  • Co-working when building a board.
  • Commenting and voting tools.
  • Image upload and replacement.

Cons

  • I would LOVE to have image linking like in Illustrator and InDesign so that if we update an image on our server, it updates it in Miro.
  • Save snapshot/versioning? It's a living document, but sometimes you need to capture a certain "state".
  • Better frame/board organization tools. The linear flow when you have 70 frames is cumbersome. The fact that the play order is "order of insertion" versus "left to right and top to bottom" is kind of silly. What if you have to add a frame in the middle? Sliding over the other frames on the main whiteboard and inserting them in visual order seems so much more intuitive. "Insertion Order" makes no visual sense once the frames are on the page.
  • Reduced client decision-making time.
  • Improved client collaboration.
  • Fosters client internal conversations.
Our creative team is distributed in six locations, and many employees are also remote. Our client base is often located in multiple offices/regions. Miro has given us the ability to collaborate in a manner that used to require us all to be in the same location.
I feel that the voting tools and frames seem to make Miro a better product.

Mood boards, group presentations, and brainstorming. We used to present concepts to clients in person, but with constrained budgets and post-COVID scenarios, we mainly presented online. Miro allows for the collaborative activities that we used to do face-to-face. We used to rate image boards with 20 people in the room using sticky dots. With Miro, we can now do this with people in 10 different locations.
