Overall Satisfaction with Miro
We use Miro for research, ideation and agile workshops for UX and Engineering projects, in a cross-functional team. We often hold our retros and ideation workshops in Miro - I often browse the templates to get inspired and reuse workshop frameworks, for e.g. persona building. We use Miro to work out user flows together and share them with external stakeholders as well, as it's the easiest to share works with them and receive feedback from them on this platform. As a designer, I usually move to Figma after a while, but for early stages ideating al collaboration, Miro is more comfortable, especially when working with engineers and stakeholders. As we are a large organization, it's nice to have well-organized spaces and boards too.
Pros
- Varying element like frames, notes, arrows, stickers etc, providing freedom to build and ideate
- Infinity canvas works perfectly
- Collaboration, following others and the timer function are very handy on workshops
Cons
- I still don't know if we can place frames into frames (like in Figma), but if it's not possible it'd be nice, and if it is, it should be more intuitive.
- Seeing layers would be helpful, e.g. when I locked something, or an object is on top of others and get confused, it'd be nice to check what is under what
- In collaboration, accidentally moving frames and objects is still a thing - locking should be improved or more highlighted
- Flowcharts made in Miro speed up alignment between departments
- Workshops held in Miro vs in physical place are better documented & preserved
- Working remotely, from multiple locations, the easily accessible virtual space Miro provides is crucial
We are a large organisation, with team members from different tech maturity and different locations. Miro was easy to set up even in an overcomplicated corporate environment, and the collaboration has always been smooth, it seemed to be easy to use for users with lower tech maturity too. As I work in an agile team, we use Miro for all agily ceremonies, it contributes a lot to our team's efficiency.
