Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We use Miro within our organization as a tool for discussions and idea generation. It is particularly effective in preventing online meetings from becoming unproductive due to discussions going off track or becoming hard to follow. Miro also helps capture valuable comments and allows us to include ideas from people who may not speak up often but have great insights.
It truly serves as an effective whiteboard in an online setting. Unlike physical whiteboards—which often need to be erased or are difficult to read even if recorded due to messy handwriting or drawings—Miro makes it easy to look back and review past content.

Pros

  • The ability to collaborate in real time with multiple people editing simultaneously.
  • The feature that allows you to bring others' attention to a specific area on the board.
  • The fact that you can experience its usefulness even with the free version.

Cons

  • Sometimes, the system suddenly becomes slow or freezes. It would be helpful if there were alerts before such issues occur.
  • Occasionally, Japanese text input stops working, and only English characters can be entered.
  • By facilitating productive discussions, we were able to clearly define our goals, which allowed us to identify the most efficient path to reach them. Even when setbacks occurred, we were able to recover with minimal rework. In contrast, teams that did not use Miro often struggled to set clear goals and frequently experienced project delays. In terms of productivity, we estimate that the difference is as much as twofold.
  • For the projects where we used Miro, we were able to clearly identify the right tasks needed to achieve well-defined goals. As a result, the quality of our work was recognized within the organization. When we presented our approach externally, its effectiveness was also acknowledged, and we received three invitations for guest speaking engagements.
The implementation went smoothly because we had team members who were already familiar with how to use Miro. There was little resistance, as the platform has solid security measures and is free to use, so there was no financial risk. That said, many veteran employees were initially reluctant to adopt it. However, due to the COVID-19 situation, we were able to introduce it across the organization out of necessity.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we realized that Miro enabled us to have productive discussions even without meeting face-to-face. It allowed us to collaborate with overseas teams and eliminated the need for business trips, significantly reducing travel costs and saving time. We also no longer needed to reserve large meeting rooms, which removed location-related constraints.

Yes

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

Miro is well suited for discussions and idea generation during online meetings.
When it's difficult to understand what a speaker is trying to say, using Miro to take notes and visually structure their ideas—such as the storyline or logic—helps clarify their message. It allows the speaker to organize their thoughts more clearly and makes it easier for listeners to understand. As a result, it leads to more productive discussions about what's missing or what works well. It is less appropriate for project management and schedule management—we use other tools for those purposes.
