Overall Satisfaction with Miro

Miro has become my go-to whiteboard and mind-mapping tool. If I have to do some planning or thinking, I go directly to Miro. I will often look through the templates and find a template or tool that fits my situation and then use that to guide my approach. It is a fantastic tool for facilitating virtual workshops. I find that you can teach the basics of Miro in about 10 minutes and then another 5-10 minutes of actual use to reach a point of basic functional competence. I will often send a short Miro training video (there are lots on YouTube) with the invite to ensure that the participants have a chance to become familiar and more comfortable with the tool beforehand. Miro is a great tool; I could not do my job without it.

Pros

  • Collaboration
  • Voting
  • Creative exploration of ideas

Cons

  • Sometimes a little difficult to transition between edit and move.
  • Import/Export between Excel and Miro can lead to weird formatting.
  • Would love to see an extra-large (XL) sticky size as a standard.
  • Productivity/Efficiency.
  • Collaboration
  • Project delivery.
  • Time savings (post-in-person workshops).
There is a bit of a learning curve, but it is 90 %+ intuitive. The switch between editing a card and moving it can be a little clunky, which is why I didn't give it 10/10. Overall, it's solid, and I really would not be able to do my work without it.
I use it as my go-to brainstorming tool. I can share, link, and invite people in if necessary, and it simply makes things easier overall.
I have used the JIRA integration to minimize the time I need to spend there. I will often mock up powerpoint slides and then share the mock-up with my team to finalize. I would say that it hasn't eliminated these other tools, but has certainly shortened the time I spend on them.
I find Miro has more features than MS Teams and is simply more comfortable to use.
