Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We use Miro to plan, do strategy work, conduct retros, and do creative ideation. The problems we're trying to solve are client challenges. A brief comes in, but traditionally, our work from there would be to create a set of documents. That becomes hard to manage. We use Miro to put all documentation together and visualize it. We unpack decks and briefs and use the canvas to respond to them all and connect the dots visually.

Pros

  • Strategy
  • Journey planning.
  • High-level Prototyping.

Cons

  • AI features could allow more reprompting and tweaking of outputs.
  • Limits on spreadsheet imports and exports make moving between formats challenging.
  • Better integration with Figma.
  • Makes high-value work move faster.
  • Works as a work-in-progress documentation for clients.
  • Enables remote collaboration.
It's more intuitive than Figma and makes it easier to democratise access. We use it for client workshops with first-time users, and it requires very little onboarding and orientation.
Post-its are the key tool we use. AI mindmaps have been highly useful for structured AI outputs. Wireframing tools are used daily to give designers a steer quickly. Templates for retros, ideation sessions, etc., save time and effort so we can quickly get value out of sessions. Importing documents and unpacking them visually is critical to strategy work.
No. We still need presentation software for a client presentation, spreadsheets for financials, Jira for work management, and Figma for design. Its biggest impact has been to stage the work into early planning and alignment into Miro canvases, then move to key output formats like those mentioned above. We probably use slides less as a result, but we still need them.
We're actively considering FigJam as an alternative, as we already use it for design outputs. But Miro has proven to have quick adoption. Nothing else, in my view, has been considered as the all-in-one nature that is comprehensive until we arrive at high-fidelity design, which is where, in my opinion, Miro falls short.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

Miro has changed the way I work. It's critical to my content strategy work. I can pull in site maps, mess with them, and create detailed outputs, including wireframes and new sitemaps, all in one place. It's great for brainstorming and planning our journeys. It's generally great for people who want the whole picture, including attempts, failures, and alternative directions.
