Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We use Miro for everything from brainstorming, roadmapping and even running different projects/activities. It has very quickly become an indispensable part of our tooling.

Pros

  • Visual representation of ideas
  • Technical and Functional architecture diagramming
  • Roadmaps
  • Agile ceremonies
  • Brainstorming facilitation
  • Mind-mapping facilitation

Cons

  • Integration with Jira for more detailed roadmapping
  • allowing Jira items to be pulled into a timeline to ease roadmapping
  • providing the ability to create "views" in the timeline that allow for various levels of detail in the roadmap depending on the audience
  • Find a way to allow complex teams to be able to stay in sync using a Miro board.
  • Helped centralize how my team does roadmapping, leading to less re-invention and more efficient & readable roadmaps
  • helped many times in facilitating discussions allowing to not loose information that was discussed
  • Workshops are much more efficient now since we do not have to rely on one person to collect and analyze information, Miro has made this much more collaborative
While I really enjoy using Miro, it still needs improvements in it's integrations with common tools like Jira, Microsoft loop, Confluence etc. The tool's usability when within itself and not trying to leverage integrations is amazing, sometimes the loading times are a bit annoying for very large/complex Miro boards but overall I am happy with the usability of Miro.
The timeline feature I think has been the most impactful but this is strongly supported by the fact that the Jira integration is allowing for the start/end dates to be directly translated into the timeline which has allowed my team and I to roadmap way more efficiently than in the past.
I would say I no longer need or feel the need to use Visio or MSP to create project timelines or roadmaps. Due to the handshake between Miro and Jira it has cut out a lot of busywork involved in project managing software development. I would say if continued on it's current trajectory, Miro will replace many tools.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

Miro is great for collaborating on ideas, iterating on functional and technical workflows, documenting business processes and representing information that needs to be visually presented. It also is decent at helping teams track activities, updates, small tasks, agile ceremonies like daily scrum meetings and retrospectives; but it does not replace a more traditional project management platform that is capable of tracking multi tiered projects that are highly complex and structured.
