Overall Satisfaction with New Relic

New Relic offer a clean and good interface with powerful visualization tool making easier to monitor the infra and application performance in real time. It has the user friendly UI as compare to other tools. It also helps us to monitor the business related data. It also supports the wide range of integrations with its agents and also with other methods. It price is also good enough as compare to its competitors. It also launches new features time to time which helps us to decrease the MTTD and also it supports the integration through OTEL.
We are using New Relic as a Primary Observability and Application performance monitoring Strategy. Using New Relic for Infrastructure Monitoring (Azure VM and Memory, CPU, Disk), Helped optimize the (Mean time to resolution) of the Issues optimizing all over operation process,
Utilized for Full stack Monitoring and Network Monitoring for diff. architectures.

Pros

  • The alerting features which help in static and dynamic. Baseline alerts help us to create alerts based on the dynamic data and also it helps us actively monitor out resources with the help of the alerting mechanism.
  • Its visualization features which support in built dashboard as well as custom visualization. It has a wide range of inbuilt widget types which covers mostly all type of data and also with the help of custom vizualisation we can create all type of dashboards through the help of react using custom visualization.
  • It supports wide range of integration which includes all major clouds, databases, networks etc. It has a number of agents to deploy in those services which helps us to send the data to New Relic in a easier way and also it helps us to monitor those service very quickly.

Cons

  • I have seen, since last few days New Relic is taking so much time to show the output of any NRQL query leading to much frustration for the engineer to getting the RCA. I think New Relic can improve on this as earlier it was working completely fine.
  • While New Relic offers a wide range of integrations with popular platforms like AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, and various databases, not all third-party systems are equally supported, which can lead to partial observability in complex or mixed environments.
  • Implementing New Relic reduces the Mean time to Resolution with atleast 30-35 percent, helped our team pinpoint the root cause in minutes from hour, help in the improvement of downtime eventually maintaining the stronger compliance.
  • In our organization, we were able implement the observability for the monitoring the revenue of the and created the revenue Dashboards as well for better understanding and major things.
  • From Past some days New Relic query is taking some time in providing the response, even earlier it was working fine so may New Relic can work on it.
As we have deployed our application in cloud hybrid and private as well with implementing the New Relic has helped us in unifying all the performance metrics of the apps. we were able to detects the latencies between the environments and identify the other inefficiencies from cloud and datacenters as well.
As earlier we were working on prem environments as plan to migrate to on cloud New Relic helps in reducing the migration risk by providing the end-to-end visibility during the migration process and after it helps to rduce the post migration incidents by 30 - 40 % . its insights for cloud resource utilization helped us in right size infra reducing all over cost upto 20 %.
Using New Relic in monitoring the real time performance of we were able to detect and address the Issue early in the development and staging phases, preventing the performance of regression prior reaching to production. custom dashboard and alerting provided the visibility for the deployment health and api releated latencies resulting in lesser error rates.
The main reason is its pricing models which is value for money with respect to its features and it supports the OTEL related integrations which helps us to adopt the updations of Otel very easily and also it gives us flexible to drop the data in different stages through the help of pipeline control feature whcih will effect the cost. And also it has the user friendly, if any new user will came to New Relic even they can also easily work on it with a little understanding of tool which makes New Relic better than other tools

We have deployed multi-tiered application with the having setup the monitoring for the different components like backend, fronted, Network monitoring and Infrastructure monitoring, with the help of New Relic we were able to setup the monitoring for all the above component, and we are managing it on a single platform optimizing the all over performance of the application helps to get the client appreciation as well.
