Nintex Workflow for Sharepoint
Overall Satisfaction with Nintex Platform
We use the Nintex Platform for Forms and Workflow across the entire organization. The primary business problem we are solving is the approval process for requests submitted with a form.
Pros
- Contractor approval process.
- Visitor registration.
- Pay increase authorization and approval.
- Camera authorization and approval.
Cons
- SQL control only return one value, rather than a table which could be queried after only one call to the database.
- In some cases we have to use JavaScript to accomplish seemingly simple validations that should be an option in the control.
- It needs an easier way to handle the user ID field that returns back as “i:o#.w|DOMAIN\username.”
- It has allowed us to replace a forms software that has been discontinued.
- It allowed us to make forms that can be “smart” by interfacing with databases for data lookup.
- It has allowed the end-user to create forms rather than requiring the SharePoint Administrator to do it, because Nintex Form are simple, where the previous product was more like a programming application.
We use Nintex on our Intranet for our business office, manufacturing, sales, hr, etc. It is flexible because it can be designed to work with any group. It only needs to be tied to a SharePoint list, which is also very flexible.
The end-users are easily able to create and edit their own forms. They are also able to create workflows. The workflows do become complicated quickly though, so it usually requires IT assistance.
Nintex is our replacement for Infopath, which is being discontinued. We chose Nintex over K2 because it integrates directly into SharePoint, and it is a much better price point. We are also very determined to use only on-premises software rather than cloud-based, which eliminates Flow as an option.
