Nintex Workflow for Sharepoint

Overall Satisfaction with Nintex Process Platform

We used Nintex Process Platform as a workflow for our internal contract approval process. We have a fairly simple process but were running into issues with flexibility when we desired to edit the workflow. We had previously been using SharePoint workflow and had a significant problem when it came to being able to report on current and past workflows.
  • Ability to report on workflows
  • Options in building processes
  • Nice UI
  • Support was excellent
  • Hawkeye was difficult to set up
  • Was never able to get over the learning curve to be able to use Nintex Process Platform in other business areas
  • Pricing was somewhat confusing
  • Very positive for the end users. It did not save time over previously used processes but fixed a lot of formerly common mistakes
  • Provided managment with great reporting on the processes
  • Had a learning curve for administrators
We used Nintex Process Platform connected to SharePoint. We would have loved if Nintex Process Platform had a document repository but it paired with SharePoint almost seamlessly, so those qualms were quickly forgotten. It was almost plug and play and made us feel confident that any changes to our environment could be handled by Nintex.
The end users for our process were our sales team. These are not usually the most adaptable individuals but they were able to pick up Nintex Process Platform very quickly and we heard complaints about the workflow disappear virtually overnight after our implementation. They interact with forms/approvals and upload documents.
Nintex Process Platform made it very easy to build simple workflows. As processes became more and more complex, the creation became much more detailed. We had one person trying to build a very complex process comment say, "I wish it was just writing code." Our organization has a lot of technical people who are more comfortable with code and Nintex Process Platform frustrated them but was great for our back-office users.
Our organization was never able to fully realize the value of Nintex Process Platform beyond our initial implementation. It was used a couple times for easy processes but management eventually decided that it was not worth paying for Nintex Process Platform for those use cases. Several other more complex processes were attempted but were never completed.
Nintex Process Platform was pretty comparable to these options. The major things that stood out for Nintex Process Platform, which ultimately made us select it, was the ease of use for the end users and the ability to report on the process. SharePoint workflow was the solution that Nintex Process Platform replaced and it performed much better for end users and management.
It worked great for our initial use case. I loved the forms and ease of use for the end user. It was somewhat cumbersome to set up and required a lot of support from Nintex, which they were great at. My only hesitation would be that it was not what I would call a smooth process, which resulted in management not being eager to expand Nintex Process Platform to other business units.
