Overall Satisfaction with Optimizely Web Experimentation

Optimizely is used to gain insights on how new user experiences will perform when launched. The platform is used to answer our big questions; we experiment using split and multivariate tests regarding content copy, structure and more. Additionally we use the extension feature to build out new elements that we can then test before advising the development team to invest time, energy and money into rolling it out on site.
  • The audience feature is easy to use and very beneficial in previewing the experiment as users would see it before launching the experiment
  • Targeting individual pages or a group of saved pages is easy to do
  • Metric tracking is highly customizable and easy to visualize
  • Allow for editable extension fields to be implemented in the extension's CSS
  • Moving extensions or experiments across projects should be simpler
  • Allow for quick switching between setting up metrics in the experiment and event implementation set up
  • Metric Tracking
  • Shared/Variation Code
  • Extension Implementation
  • Easier to prioritize projects based on impact and level of effort
  • Better understanding of whether an experience will be beneficial for the user and the business
  • Simplified testing across multiple projects
Optimizely has better customer service if you need to talk to a person and a great library of documentation if you run into issues and want to troubleshoot yourself. Web Experimentation has allowed for our testing capabilities to grow as our research program develops. Optimizely added many new possibilities that were not available on the other testing platform.

Do you think Optimizely Web Experimentation delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Optimizely Web Experimentation's feature set?

Yes

Did Optimizely Web Experimentation live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Optimizely Web Experimentation go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Optimizely Web Experimentation again?

Yes

Optimizely is well-suited for testing simple changes across your site and tracking user's take rate on specific elements. Additionally, I would recommend using Optimizely if you are interested in experimenting with new elements on your page that require building a not-too-complex product. I would not use Web Experimentation if you are interested in testing an element that requires the integration of an outside platform, API, etc.
