Overall Satisfaction with Outreach

It's a pretty good sequencing tool, I've been part of acquiring and have run integrating it at two separate organizations.
The sequencing part works pretty well, the data that's available to send to Salesforce(or other CRM) is also quite good, such as opens, clicks, replies, etc, which has enabled me to build on top of that data to progress someone through a Campaign, for example, if they've opened/replied to the email

Pros

  • Building Outbound prospecting sequences
  • Organizing prospecting sequences and reminding reps of what they need to send out

Cons

  • The most recent time I've integrated Outreach to SFDC, the integration ran through a single user, which means all the tasks/emails/updates show up as a single person, making it more difficult to see who's done what
  • Competitors have built on top of just being a prospecting platform, creating in a central platform for outbound action, and including reasonably accurate data
  • Pricing has made competitors a more likely choice, though those competitors are venture-backed and pricing will likely change over time
  • At one org, the switch from Salesloft to Outreach increased meetings booked
  • I brought it on at a separate organization, and the structure it provided allowed us to standardize our outbound cold outreach cycle, which had noticeable effects
  • Having pre-formed sequences undoubtedly helps in scalable prospecting, and organizes things much better than spreadsheets
It has flexible permissions which allows to designate certain non-admins to build out sequences or add or remove people, which allows one main admin to handle the more technical end, while allowing team leads to build out sequences for other team members, allowing everyone to play to their relative strengths, while not allowing for chaos if everyone had full permissions
I haven't personally used their generative AI capabilities, deal management, coaching, or forecasting. The generative AI is probably decent for writing the body of prospecting emails, however, people are pretty good at spotting how GenAI writes, and my feeling is most people cringe when they see it. As for the other features, I personally wouldn't stick my neck out on sales/revenue predictions that a GenAI outputs, at least not in their current state
The platform is overall an extremely reasonable platform, the setup is not complicated and depends more on the organization that is onboarding to have their internal processes set upOnce that's resolved, the work needed to get set up and to maintain is not much and is fairly simple, which is a plus
In order of what my choices would be with the options above:
Apollo, Salesloft, Outreach, Unify, Amplemarket
In my opinion, Apollo is terrible and the only reason it is still solvent is that startups with no money need a solution to have some sort of data enrichment and have a sequencing tool. I think their platform is poorly built, the integration inflexible and causes many sync issues, and their support is not good.
Salesloft and Outreach are about the same, but i slightly prefer Outreach for their UI, and ease of integration, though I haven't used Salesloft in 5 years.
We're evaluating Unify GTM and Amplemarket, and Amplemarket seems to have more of what we're looking for, as a complete platform though Unify would still rank higher than Outreach

Do you think Outreach delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Outreach's feature set?

No

Did Outreach live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Outreach go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Outreach again?

Yes

It does what it's meant to(organizing outbound prospecting activity) fairly well. The UI is intuitive, the data it pushes to CRM is useful, and it doesn't make me want to pull my hair out like other tools (Apollo.io).
However, I feel as if it's been left behind by newer entries into the market, and for the same or better price, there are other tools I can acquire that do the same or more.
