Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
We use Paylocity for payroll processing, timesheet entry and approval, paid time off tracking, online new hire paperwork. The product addresses the problems of tracking time off, filing quarterly payroll tax returns, etc.
Pros
- Dedicated account manager.
- Emailed notifications of changes.
Cons
- The system is very clunky and seems like multiple systems were mashed up together. For example, there is "HR and Payroll" and "Time and Labor." Some of the areas list employees First, Last name. Others list employees Last name, first name. In HR and Payroll there is a "Payroll File" and an "HR File" for every employee. It is not clear which one contains which set of information. It is confusing to have to go to Time and Labor sometimes, HR and Payroll sometimes, and then have to choose which employee file to refer to.
- Vacation time has been miscalculated many times, when we implemented a new policy it took months for it to be put in place.
- We incurred a payroll tax liability in the State of California due to no tax filing in a specific quarter. Paylocity has been requested to submit an amendment and eliminate the erroneous tax liability for SEVERAL MONTHS. We still receive notices from the State of California who is now going to intercept our corporate federal tax return. On top of this poor performance, we were notified that the amendment would cost our company $2,000 to file! This seems like an exorbitant amount to file a single amendment indicating $0 in payroll for that quarter.
- When entering payroll, I have to go to Time and Labor, close the period, transfer the data, then merge two batches together manually. Again, this feels very clunky and mashed together. I would like to login to one UI and perform all functions within one section of the site. Instead I must toggle between two systems that seem disjointed.
- The site is not very intuitive. It is often difficult to try and figure out what screen to go to, or the correct process to make an update or change.
- out of state tax liability
- exorbitant fees for tax filings
Paylocity was selected by a previous employee, just before I started working with my current employer. I believe that they were unfamiliar with many payroll products and selected Paylocity based on a demo that they viewed or attended. The best experience I have had was with isolved as it was a very intuitive and clean UI.
