Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

Payroll and Benefits administration, personnel document retention, and state tax registration.

Pros

  • The interface is very user-friendly.
  • Can find answers to almost every question in the Knowledge base.
  • Customer service response time via email is quick.
  • Friendly and courteous customer representatives.

Cons

  • Better training for account managers/reps: responses/solutions may vary based on who you talk to, and we have had instances where the advice/solution was incorrect, requiring us to consult multiple people.
  • Shorter resolution times for inquiries: tax notices appear to take longer to be addressed, which sometimes results in missed payment due dates.
  • We were unable to add an FSA module to our Paylocity benefits due to a delayed response from Paylocity's Flexible Benefits Operations and Legal team regarding the substantiated claims process. It's been over four months, and we still haven't heard back, so we will use another provider for this - a missed opportunity for Paylocity.
  • Reduced time expenditure.
  • More consistent processes.
  • Better workforce visibility.
The payroll module works great. However, the scheduling and time tracking are outsourced to our project management software.
We have not used these tools extensively, as we primarily use another software (Lattice) for this purpose.
Paylocity is user-friendly, and even a 1st time user would be able to navigate through it. Sometimes it takes a little time to find the answers, and the customer reps are not all knowledgeable, so we have to double-check their responses.
We use Paylocity for payroll. However, Lattice is much easier to navigate and customize for performance management, which is what we use it for.

Yes

Paylocity works well for a small business with an Payroll department and employees in one or several states. However, delayed response time and inconsistent support/solutions may deter those without internal payroll knowledge and chose a PEO instead.
