Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
Paylocity is our main HCM, Recruiting, Onboarding, and engagement platform for our company. We do also use it for some performance and time tracking functions. We love that it can be the central hub for many of our functions from an HR/Operations standpoint which limits the different softwares and logins that we need per person to complete our daily functions. Many items are also user friendly and navigation is intuitive.
Pros
- Navigation is incredibly user friendly and intuitive
- Reports are varied and many. The ability to customize and schedule is also very nice
- The connection between modules (Recruiting to Onboarding to HR & Payroll) is quite seamless
Cons
- Home. This is a new replacement for the Self-Service Portal and is much less customizable than the SSP was. Having the ability to set up multiple layouts is great, but losing the custom page/memo/etc. functions is very frustrating
- Notifications should be more customizable. We would also love the ability to update the system generated notifications to include our logo and/or be sent from a company specific URL. Our IT team is big on security and our employees are very wary of clicking any Paylocity notifications because they can often look like spam or phishing emails
- Succession planning should be more fleshed out. We use Excel spreadsheets for our succession planning currently because we need each of our upper management leaders to provide their "trickle down replacements" with some details. For example, if manager A leaves, EE 1, EE 2, and EE 4 are possible replacements (in that order) along with reasons and places to improve for each. The succession planning in Performance is lacking a lot of functionality for our use
- Admin ability to impersonate others would be an AMAZING feature. We are a 700+ employee company and I am one of only 3 admins though I do most of the Paylocity functions. As such, when trying to troubleshoot or resolve issues/make updates for other employees in my company, it is often difficult as I can't see what they see and I can't test changes I've made to see it from an "employee" view without updating my access, waiting 30 minutes, logging in, and then waiting for one of the other 2 admins to update my access back, waiting another 30+ minutes, and logging back into my normal access
- More customization in Recruiting and Onboarding. The ability to add custom fields to either applications or candidates after they are already in Recruiting that can flow all the way to HR & Payroll would be great. Similarly, the ability to create custom tasks in Onboarding that we could map to a specific function. For example, if we create a custom task about uniforms or clothing, the ability to have the same task have both an employee and employer portion (i.e. the EE answers what size shirt they wear, then the employer selects the distribution group based on that size and the employee's location) and then having that map to a specific item in HR & Payroll, whether that be a custom field or a skill/certification or anything
- Having a general "notes" or "updates" place in employee files where you don't have to put in a status or position or pay change but could still log something in the employee file for other admins to see
- Having the ability to have candidates we hire feed directly to Onboarding has been a great improvement to the time it takes to hire a new employee
- Visibility is great, having most items housed in Paylocity in regards to the employee file/history and allowing our division leaders to see (but not edit) all those in their chain is great
- Report scheduling has been fantastic on cutting down time that we used to spend running and sending reports to people on a weekly or monthly basis. Now we spend a little longer setting it up one time and it automatically runs and is available to who we need when we need it
Paylocity and recent improvements to it have greatly improved our automated processes. Payroll is smoother than ever before with only adjustments and bonuses having to be manually entered. Talent acquisition is smooth as well with the easy process from application to hire and then through to onboarding.
We do not use this currently. It's something we are interested in beginning to use more however there is some work both internally and with the software that is needed before it can get where it needs. Community would need to have groups set up for each of our divisions so that leaders can use this for announcements. Impressions we would also need to build out badges and approval flows for. The bigger item is that we need to educate our population on using these features and since many of our groups use other systems for additional functions, getting them to regularly use Paylocity for something other than seeing their weekly paychecks is a bit of an adjustment.
