Overall Satisfaction with Procore

Procore has numerous valuable tools, integration is challenging simply due to the amount of functions that need to be learned in order to use the fullness of what Procore offers. However, the return on the investment of time is well worth it.
Procore is being used across our whole organization. It addresses issues with connecting our process and people seamlessly. It reduces redundancy and promotes efficiency in our delivery process. Procore has also tied our project management to our accounting in a way that eliminates double entry and provides near instantly updated cost information allowing our field and accounting department to have real-time data.

Pros

  • Meetings - the Meetings tool in Procore is simple to use, it documents the agenda and minutes with ease. Recording minutes, setting up meetings, and distributing meetings is nearly effortless. This tool was the single most surprising benefit of this powerful software.
  • Directory - establishing the directory company-wide as well as project specific is something that came as a surprising benefit.
  • Drawings - the ability to keep the most current drawings available to the project team as well as recording comments in a way that is instantly accessible to all team members regardless of locale is one of the single most beneficial features of Procore for field and project management personnel.

Cons

  • Drawing upload function - While uploading is easy, the file naming/identification function lacks some of the automation found in other platforms such as PlanGrid.
  • Inability to quickly include an individual or company who has not been invited to procore. Sometimes we need to send something to a person/company who hasn't been invited. In order to do so we have to invite them first which can be cumbersome in the midst of distributing information to a large group of people.
  • Consistent features between web access version and app versions. The drawings features differ depending on what platform you are using. This is difficult to remember.
Procore offers a full suite of tools and connection to other software that allows you to keep your entire project within one platfrom for its duration. The other platforms that I have used were not able to cover the entire duration of a project life cycle. This is the primary reason we chose Procore. While PlanGrid's drawing upload, markup, and punch list functions seem to be more user-friendly and further developed they do not offer project management tools, field reporting, and accounting solutions. Basecamp is a great collaboration tool, it lacks the construction-specific suite of tools and thus cannot be used as a standalone tool for any part of our delivery process.
We have recently used Procore to share notes from a mid-design review with our design team. The notes were taken in one place (directly on the drawings) and submitted to the team for action steps. By using the responsible party function we are able to notify and keep track of who is addressing the items. We have used the project e-mail function within Procore to announce project wide updates to the team.
  • Procore has increased efficency
  • Procore has saved our company time
  • Procore has increased collaboration
  • Gain visibility into projects
  • Ensure information is accessible and up to date
  • Document job site conditions
  • Report on incidents and inspections
  • Identify job site risks
  • Track cost impacts from the field
  • Streamline financial reporting
  • Improve forecast accuracy
  • Simplify employee time tracking
The accounting and estimating tie-in allow us to share real-time information with our multiple data entry points. The drawings tool enables us to ensure information is accessible and up to date. The field reporting allows us to keep daily reports, inspections, observations, photos, etc., in one place accessible by our team. The time card function allows us to track employee time in a way that connects directly back to accounting.
Procore is well suited for mid-large general contractors who wish to streamline processes. Procore may be less appropriate in projects where the delivery timeline is less than 8 months or in a situation where the full functionality of Procore will not be tapped due to existing systems/software. Procore seems to be 'all or nothing' in order to experience the full benefit.
