Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use QuickBooks as a full accounting package, for everything from billing to A/P to A/R. QuickBooks does it all. QuickBooks has great functionality to manage your collections. It's simple and easy to use. Reports are comprehensive and easy to formulate. Data can easily be exported to Excel.

Pros and Cons

Concise bank account registers

QuickBooks can be pricey if you are using the payroll
Multi user could be improved as only certain things can be done in single user mode
Low level Support is not the best. Operators are foreign based screen readers

Xero

QuickBooks has way more functionality than Xero. The reporting of QuickBooks is leaps and bounds ahead of Xero

Usability

The software is very easy to use especially if you have a background in accounting or bookkeeping. There are plenty of resources for support outside of the Intuit sphere.

Support Rating

If you are a Pro Advisor or hire a Pro Advisor support is excellent. Low level support for those who do not have access to Pro Advisor support end up with foreign based screen readers and long hold times. When calling support there is myriad of menus until you actually are able to get a human on the phone.

Likelihood to Recommend

QuickBooks Desktop Pro is best used by companies with 3 or less users. It is a full spectrum accounting system. Can handle A/R, A/P, billing, purchase orders, estimates, etc. If you have more than three users its best to use QuickBooks Enterprise as more than 3 users tends to slow the software down. Also it's not the best at tracking inventory.
