QuickBooks is a great SMB accounting tool
Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks Online Advanced
QuickBooks Online Advanced is being used to do the bookkeeping for the bookkeeping customers that I have. I use it for each customer. We needed to chose software to do the bookkeeping and at this point, QuickBooks is a household name so my customers are comfortable with that as the software choice.
Pros
- It imports a lot of transactions.
- It is accessible from any computer.
- It keeps the books organized and easily presentable.
Cons
- The UI is a bit clunky.
- Sometimes it is hard to find specific transactions.
- There are not a lot of bulk actions you can do.
- Easy to get the books done
- Good customer retention
- No issues with data errors
Yes, it has been super easy to setup. Most of the time I was able to covert a QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online. When that happens the real work is getting all the plugins set up with the right passwords. But there is basically very little work to implement the product.
The software works anywhere I go with an internet connection so it is very flexible. There is even an app on my phone where I can access things. However, it is hard to do accounting tasks on a phone. I normally have it set up on a computer with 2 to 3 monitors.
Both of these have similar functionality. I ultimately decided on QuickBooks for two reasons. It is much more common for people to have QuickBooks previously so it's easier to convert the file to QuickBooks Online. And 2nd, I did not want to have to convince my clients that Xero was safe. Everyone knows QuickBooks so I just went with what is known.
