Overall Satisfaction with Raiser's Edge NXT

NXT is being used only in our fundraising department to host all donor information, foundation information, and to assist with donor and foundation solicitation and retention. NXT also assists with segmentation of direct mail fundraising.
  • The profiles are set up well, easy to navigate, intuitive to use. All contact and basic information on the donor/foundation/company is easily accessible on their profile home page.
  • Detailed queries are available. It is possible to query almost every imaginable feature.
  • NXT analytics provide great visuals to track donor responses and trends.
  • At this point I can think of only one area of concern - speed. Our data is stored at the Boston data centre. The speed at which the data is available to us varies widely - from a solid speed to painfully slow. We are a large organization so our internet speed is very high. The problem seems to be with the speed of the data coming from the centre.

We have been using NXT for several months, but this is not enough time to adequately answer the question, especially with respect to increasing revenue. NXT has increased operational efficiency with simple changes such as having all donor contact information on the main page of their profile - and listing phone numbers and e-mail addresses separately. (E-mail addresses were formerly listed under phone numbers.)
We use NXT and BBMS (Blackbaud Merchant Services.) We have investigated the possibility of using Luminate Online. We still expect to use Luminate - however, our online presence needs to be stronger, and the number of our online donations needs to be higher before we move to Luminate. In terms of technology expertise, we have found the Blackbaud staff to be excellent.
Because I did not work at Catholic Social Services at the time Raiser's Edge was purchased, I was not involved in the evaluation process. My previous experience with membership/fundraising databases were with Membership Pro and BasicFunder. Raiser's Edge NXT is considerably more advanced than these two products in my experience. (However, both products did serve my needs at the time.)

Raiser's Edge is powerful fundraising software, period. It could he utilized very well by hospital foundations, post-secondary institutions, larger churches, and charities of any kind. Assuming you are able to manage the cost, I would recommend using Raiser's Edge from the beginning of the organization or the commencement of your fundraising efforts. It may seem like "too much" at first, but as your donor base grows and time moves on, you'll be happy to have started with Raiser's Edge NXT.
