Overall Satisfaction with Rippling

Overall it's pretty decent but there are some glaring weaknesses, including the inability to export formatted reports and the inability to really create reports in a flexible way (e.g. hide columns that don't add info, put headings on them, etc.) - we have to shared hours by job for a government grant and now we have to rebuild with an Excel spreadsheet and then format it - it shouldn't be this hard. Moving a candidate from ATS to the system is super easy and off-boarding is easy too. Making changes in time and attendance after payroll has been run (e.g. someone used the wrong job category and I need to fix it for a monthly report) is annoying as it will not take manually-changed information. The ATS interface has a lot of potential improvement, but that's more about the company that they white-label that module from.

  • Reporting - both creating custom reports and then printing or saving them as formatted PDF
  • Payroll - tying the various vacation policies to employee types etc. is so convoluted that we had to hire a consultant to help us
  • Onboarding - shows forms that aren't selected and sends irrelevant forms to new employees or 1099s
  • We have a lot of 1099s who we want to track time in a detailed way and then pay a retainer - too much for the system and we have to have them with an hourly salary of $0 and then retainer separate - annoying.
  • Some of the accruals are funky - still have no idea why more sick leave is accruing than it should and how we hide Jury Duty accrual as we don't want it on the paystub.
  • Simplified admin, but big time and effort to get it fully set up
Nothing compares that we know of in terms of covering all bases - a much broader offering than Paychex
Only one admin can easily contact support, the chat function for quick questions never seems to be attended to. Zero support if the employee has a question.

Feels like some things could be simplified/consolidated.
Good for smaller companies looking for a one-stop-shop. We wouldn't have bothered if we had liked our payroll company though. Not sure the device management service offers an IT help desk or overlay of security features so we have to double up on that.
