Overall Satisfaction with Rubrik
We don't have a complex need for our backups just a couple of SLA requirements based on departments for length of time for retention, a DR replication and Cloud archival to hold the extended data. We primary function off snapshots for our mainly virtual environment with some CIFS shares for unstructured data.
We decided on Rubrik since we needed a replacement system to bring us speed for restoration of backups, cloud tier options, and native snapshot backups for both VMware and Nutanix AHV VMs. Our final phase is to migrate our SQL backups to a more modern method to allow the system to manage the truncation and log replays to simplify restorations of SQL servers.
The immutability function and constant monitoring of our snapshots for irregularities makes Rubrik the right choice

- M365 Integration to allow for separate SLAs for each component
- Reporting and creation of custom Reports
- Orchestrated Recovery is not available for Nutanix AHV yet
- Threat Hunt Investigations in YARA rules are difficult to find documentation on how to write.
- Data Protection All "Search Across Rubrik" doesn't encompass files/folder you have to specify the brick to search for that to restore.
- Faster restores has freed up my time
- Consolidated backups to one time and less bandwidth constraints
- Implementation was pain free and quick to implement all features
Of all the tools Cohesity was the closest to Rubrik but the lack of Nutanix support was the deciding factor for us. HYCU is native to Nutanix but without the Nutanix Objects the deduping rate was limited. Veratas fell in the older school classification of process that did daily/weekly/monthly/yearlies and was great if we wanted to retain using tape archiving. Avamar and Networker were great tools and useful but constantly we were having support calls to fix compatibility issues between VMware and Dell, upgrades on either side sometimes would cause blackouts in data retention consistency .
