Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct
Sage Intacct is used by our accounting team. It was recommended that we had outgrown our prior financial system and needed a new one. Our technology committee chose Intacct. We use the accounts payable, some accounts receivable, and general ledger. The business problem it addressed for United Way of the Ocoee Region was to allow us to use departments to keep track of all of our funds. Financials are produced from the Intacct system for presentation to management and to the board.
- The general ledger is quite robust and flexible if it is set up correctly.
- The canned trial balance report has been a real game changer for us.
- The ability to drill down to a transaction straight from an entry in the general ledger is extremely efficient and helpful.
- It is IMPERATIVE that the original configuration setup is done correctly or the system will not produce the results you need.
- Building reports is a bit cumbersome.
- Understanding Dimensions is an absolute must during the original configuration.
- Once we got it configured correctly, the general ledger has been a definite upgrade in functionality.
- The price is still steep for our non-profit so the ROI has not been significant.
- We are not able to track projects under the different funds. This has been a game changer for us.
We have only integrated our payroll system. Our payroll processor downloads the payroll JE's directly into the general ledger. Not having to enter a very large journal entry has been very helpful. We have not integrated our accounts receivable system because it is a very old system written just for United Ways. It has been easier for us to maintain the accounts receivable as a sub-system and simply enter 1 journal entry a month to record revenue and receipts. Our bookkeeper is very pleased with the bank reconciliation process.
WE have not used any of these additional modules.
- Lawson (Intentia) and QuickBooks Pro
Our technology committee (which is made up of volunteers from the community who work in information technology at different companies) chose Intacct as a step up from QuickBooks. Prior to my work at this United Way, I was at a for-profit company that used Lawson, which was bought by Infor. Lawson is for very large companies and would be much too expensive for a mid or small company. Intacct is a nice in-between software as far as capabilities and costs go.
