Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct
I use Sage Intacct to adjust the GL and pull data into reports. The biggest problem that the company faces is that the role and user capabilities are too broad and not unique to our needs. For instance, the Account Manager role may need to change a project, but only to certain aspects of the project. There are issues with reports that pull data from places that can easily be manipulated, but we can't take away permissions as a whole because essential aspects of the user's jobs would then be taken away.
Pros
- Sage Intacct make access to video tutorials easy to access and search.
- Sage Intacct has reporting features that are easy to create and preview.
- Sage Intacct sends notifications built on specific Business needs.
Cons
- The "Duplicate" button needs to have the option to be turned off or at least for the duplication only to carry over certain aspects. Allowing users to "duplicate" means more room for human error if they forget to change one object or item.
- Sage does not have a 24/7 chat helper function that would eliminate many painful hours spent searching for a fix. For instance, the import rejections have specific codes that explain why a lien was rejected in the CSV, but there is no listing of what those codes mean. If there was a live chat feature, the code could be entered, and the solution spits out.
- There should be a default option where all text would be entered in all CAPS. This helps entries on the GL appear cleaner and easier to read.
- The negative impact has been a 13% decrease in timely billings whenever Sage Intacct or Alliance personnel cannot resolve an issue quickly.
- Employee involvement and reporting have increased as the company has expanded and more people utilize Sage's capabilities.
- The business plans on expanding operations, and Sage is already implemented to keep up with the growth. We plan to see a 25% employee increase over the next year.
We use Titanium Timberscan to automate Accounts Payable functionality. This has saved us Payroll expenses, time, and document loss. The ability to customize the information collected from vendors has been awesome for automating reports and tracking expenses.
We have used multi-entity accounting; compared to competitors, Sage Intacct is the easiest with the dimensions and screen views. Contract revenue is a new module that we are jumping into, but it seems to have functionalities that other programs do not offer.
QuickBooks Online ultimately was not able to keep up with our business in the long term. We needed a solution that understood construction accounting specifically because it has unique features. Also, other construction accounting users recommended Sage Intacct to us.

Using Sage Intacct
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
Like to use Relatively simple Easy to use Well integrated Consistent Convenient Feel confident using | Requires technical support |
- Entering new Projects or AP bills is easy to do and keep track of.
- Creating custom reports is easy to do as well as easy to edit with the preview feature.
- The drop-down menu at the top for different entities makes the software easy to maneuver.
- Creating custom rules can be difficult even with the Field Lookup feature.
- Customizing Order Entry user roles is too broad and should be more specific.
- It would be helpful to eliminate the "Duplicate" button so that jobs and bills cannot be duplicated. This causes too many fields to carry over, and users forget to edit each field.
Yes - I do not use the interface because I like to use a larger screen.
