Overall Satisfaction with ScienceLogic SL1

The product is great but being a newer product compared to whats already out there, focus must be put on the support, training and assistance provided. If you could also provide simulation or test environments for current cutomers and potential cutomers to be able to exp[eriment and play around with allowing them to get desired results without impacting business operations.
We were primarily using ScienceLogic SL1 for monitoring and suppressing alerts during maintenance times of our servers enterprise wise. Throu the training we found out there are far more capabilities, unfortunately the contract was cancelled just after a year mainly because of the poor support we received when trying to tweak it to suit our environment, especially our DMZ environment.

Pros

  • Monitoring and adjusting alerts and their thresholds.
  • It is also a very good all in one administrative console.
  • Processing and normalizing collected data.
  • A dedicated Database Server provides all database functions.

Cons

  • Monitoring and management in DMZ environments.
  • A mobile app could also assist for some functionality as we need visibility 24/7
  • Support from ScienceLogic SL1 team was nott too impressive, after initial setup we were almost on our own.
  • From a monitoring perspective once we had it properly configured the cost saving was great. We only needed two bresources to monitor the alerts and asign them to the correct groups for remediation
  • It also was great when intergrating it with our ticketing logging system, the automation took a huge workload from our service desk screening.
I see great potential and infact i do strongly beleive it offers even beter capabilities than the traditional tools out there but again it comes down to how well you have trained us on how to unlock these capabilities. I suggest incentives for techs for providing feedback for the purposes of continious improvement as well as periodic training.

It is very good for monitoring alerts ans tweaking the alerts for doifferent devices is so much simplified from the console. Adding devices to the collections is also pretty simple after receiving the correct training around it. A collector group can be configured such that if an individual collector fails, other members of the group will pick up and share the load.
