I utilize SEMRush just about every day. We conduct a great deal of marketing strategy and competitor analysis. SEMRush gives us so many tools to provide the competitive landscape for clients, do some keyword analysis, review SEO strategy and so much more. It really is the best digital marketing tool for full-service agencies.
Pros
- Competitor Analysis in SEO, SEM, and more.
- SEO Keyword Analysis, content-gap analysis, and SEO competitors
- Google Ads analysis and keyword competition. Tracking competitive bids, while not entirely accurate, allows us to get an idea of how to create a niche for our clients.
Cons
- Doing ongoing reporting based on the same brands and SEO keywords is good, but providing more in-depth SERPS would be helpful
- Monitoring and providing alerts for algorithm changes would be valuable
- Tracking and alerting when competitors begin bidding on your brand or target keywords would be a valuable addition.
- Overall the cost for SEMRush can be recuperated from one closed new business account, SEMRush helps make that sale
- Providing free Digital Marketing Audits is a great way to get new business. SEMRush makes those audits fast, so you can waste less client time on free projects
- SEMRush allows you to look for low-hanging fruit keywords to bid on and avoid highly competitive keywords, saving your client money and keeping them around longer.
SEMRush is really in a league of its own. I work with Screaming Frog, Moz, Hrefs, and MajesticSEO. None of them touch the comprehensive capabilities of SEMRush, especially for competitor analysis. SEMRush handles more than just SEO and SEM, but all things combined. Definitely a must-have for any digital marketing arsenal.
