Overall Satisfaction with Shopify
Right now I manage ten clients that use Shopify as their E-commerce and marketing platform for SEO. Shopify is used by my clients across their whole entire organization. Some of the business problems that Shopify addresses is that it is low in cost, it is a hosted solution (meaning no company servers or storage needed as your store is hosted on a Shopify server), you do not have to know how to code a website to use Shopify as it has many themes and templates to work with, and lastly Shopify has an integrated shopping cart that is hosted on your website that is encrypted and PCI Compliant. This is very important as PCI Compliance is now the law when conducting business online and having your own website that sells products or services.
- Shopify's phone support is simply amazing. They are always very helpful 24/7.
- No programming knowledge needed.
- Ease of start-up.
- Low in cost.
- You can test an idea or product out on a store for a very low start-up cost.
- Shopify was featured on NBC's the "Shark Tank".
- Shopify has a Build a Business Competition every year.
- Shopify has an Ecommerce University forum that is free to all.
- You can quickly and easily install custom elements / apps that create added functionality to your store within minutes (ex: product review app, Facebook store, Google Shopping Feed, etc.)
- Shopify is a hosted solution on a Shopify server so you do not have access to the Robots.txt file on the server to allow or disallow what Google crawls on your Shopify site.
- Additionally, if you are migrating from one platform to Shopify you can't setup 301 Redirects from your old domain (BigCommerce, Volusion, WordPress, etc) within Shopify.
- At this point Shopify should really have a pre-installed SEO Plugin like the Yoast SEO Plugin for WordPress. I speak to many Shopify store owners that are clueless on proper SEO Setup when they are found nowhere on Google. - Shopify has definitely had an extreme ROI on my business objectives. I get referrals from Shopify on a daily basis that need SEO, PPC, and marketing help on their Shopify store.
- My lead conversions are relatively fast through Shopify.

BigCommerce and Volusion are both hosted solutions just as Shopify is.
WordPress is an open source solution, more freedom, but more coding HTML, CSS knowledge needed.
Each of these CMS / E-commerce platforms all have their positives and negatives, it just really depends upon what you are looking to achieve, what your short-term and long-term goals are with your website, and what you are looking to achieve.
