Automating the on-boarding and training process
Overall Satisfaction with Skilljar
We used Skilljar to help on-board and train customers on our complete product and feature set. We had an in-house, cross-departmental team assigned to developing, vetting, and pushing the content to our learning management system (LMS) as part of our comprehensive on-boarding and training program. We designed a set of series (or learning paths), courses, and lessons that followed a logical flow and ensured new content was only introduced when users were ready to progress. This enabled us to free up our training staff for deep-dive training sessions and made the majority of our training materials available on-demand.
Pros
- The user interface is extremely intuitive and user-friendly. Users felt empowered to navigate through the system with very little oversight.
- The Skilljar customer support team is incredibly helpful every step of the way, always willing to jump on a call to work through any issues or suggest workflows to meet specific use cases.
Cons
- The hierarchies of content can be confusing. There are domains, catalogs, series, courses, and lessons. It feels like there should be an easier way to group content.
- There wasn’t a feature that allowed us to communicate directly with our customers via email or in-app notifications - outside of the automated notifications. We would have liked to be able to send ad hoc messages as well.
- We haven’t needed to hire additional training staff since the platform manages the training for us.
- We’ve improved customer loyalty and retention by providing a comprehensive onboarding and training solution that is easy to follow.
- Lessonly and Guru
Skilljar is a great all-in-one platform, with content organized into hierarchies, intelligent training progression, smart content development, and brilliant analytics and reporting capabilities. Lessonly is aimed more toward internal on-boarding and training, whereas Skilljar focuses on external training. Guru has impeccable features and integrations, but the user interface is a bit clunky and less user friendly than Skilljar.
