Overall Satisfaction with Skype for Business (formerly Lync)

Skype for Business is majorly used for interaction with customers and for internal communication among colleagues. Currently, the use case varies by department. Because of its simplicity and inclusion with Microsoft Office account, it is easy to use, well-integrated, and enables effective communications. From ideas to collaboration, Skype for Business addresses multiple needs of group & team meetings, presentations, hiring, and information sharing.
  • Team meeting & presentations
  • Group calling
  • Taking interviews
  • Recording a meeting
  • Group chat
  • Noise cancellation could have been better
  • Joining without login feature should be added
  • All recordings on one page [are] missing
  • Metting insights and analytics are missing
  • Background effect should be improved
  • It made collaboration easy.
  • It drives communication swiftly.
  • For support services, it allows effective conversation with business clients.
  • Frequent meeting reminders and timely notifications ensure punctuality among [the] team.
  • It helped us increase [the] overall productivity of [the] team.
Every software has its own pros and cons,
however, Skype for Business is more like a balanced application with all the
features required for a business need. MS teams [have] a messy user interface that
sometimes confuses users including long-time users as the application is still
under major developments. Zoho Meeting is lightweight but with compromise
against [advanced] features. Google hangout meet and other free web
conferencing applications may be good for small meetings but lacks
functionality when [a] number of users increases. But Skype for Business has [the] most features
(if not all) to complete your business needs for collaboration, hiring, and
communication.

Yes

Did Skype for Business, now part of Microsoft Teams live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Skype for Business, now part of Microsoft Teams go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Skype for Business, now part of Microsoft Teams again?

Yes

Skype for Business will prove to be great for the companies/institutes looking for a way to interact with other businesses and customers across metro cities. Also for group meetings and presentations, it is well suited. Other use cases would be for taking interviews or in [the] hiring process, support services, and [integration] with other Microsoft products like outlook.

However, for startups and small businesses whose needs are limited and those which are dealing with general customers, it will not be much to [use] as there are other applications (mainly free) available for them. Also utilizing skype for business for small teams will be a bit overpriced.
