Overall Satisfaction with Slack
Slack is used across the whole organization and it is the main instant messaging platform. It helps every department by allowing them to have specific channels per discussion area and of course private messaging between individuals.
Pros
- Slack is intuitive to use for everyone, it provides a clean user interface which allows users to easily start conversations, and get notified when new messages arrive.
- Slack allows users to send screen shots of their computers, this is particularly helpful when reporting bugs to the engineering team because the images are previewed in the conversation area
Cons
- It works perfect as it is. If they are planning on new features I think video calls will be the game changer they need and Google Hangouts will have a strong competitor.
- Very positive impact specially for our company where we have people located in 5 different timezones. It allows our teams to maintain a clean and fluid communication channel.
Google Hangouts works inside of Gmail so it's not well suited for instant messaging for a company. Slack provides a dedicated software for instant messaging.
