Overall Satisfaction with Slack

slack is used on specific projects when rapid communication is needed across a cross-disciplinary team. it has great archiving and search capabilities, much better than using email.
  • notifications
  • customization of alerts
  • emojis for more entertaining communication than regular Outlook email
  • none
  • Positive ROI - definitely, increased efficiency and quicker communication between teams
slack is free, and has paid plans if you scale up to a bunch of users.

It's more a communication platform then a checklist platform (Trello, Asana, etc)
Appropriate:
- large projects, when a communication and workflow tool is needed with a lot of robust functionality. E.g., frequent updates including attachments and file sharing, various levels of permissions (e.g. customizing which team members get which updates, etc)

Not appropriate:
- none really, although it requires a bit of a learning curve so some team members might not be enthusiastic about onboarding to it
