Overall Satisfaction with Slack

We use Slack as a way to communicate, both with those in the office and those working remotely. It's helpful for 1:1 interactions and groups of any size. We use channels for specific topics as well. The integrations also help with sharing documents (Google Drive). I use reminders for personal tasks.

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • A lot of integration options for expanded use
  • Allows for collaboration on a small or large scale

Cons

  • Customizable times for reminders
  • Mobile app is sometimes glitchy
  • Make it easier to set your status to "away" from mobile app
  • Allows for easier communication
  • Allows for easy file sharing and notification
  • It's affordable.
There are more options with Slack and better integrations. We can also add contractors to individual channels and share easily, regardless of their email platform. The Google features are still available, but Slack provides more options for customization and usability. The interface is also nice and it is easy to use and figure out.
I have used the help articles a couple times, or Googled how to do something in Slack. I have not contacted their customer support, but I have never had the need to either. The articles and tips they provide are helpful, and it is pretty intuitive in the first place.

Yes

It is great for communicating across teams or departments, especially when not everyone is in the same location. It is the equivalent of an instant messenger or group chat. It wouldn't work as well for lengthy discussions that need audio or video. It can be a one stop shop as well because of the integrations.
