Overall Satisfaction with Slack

We use it to collaborate with our workmates. It is used for quick communication. For longer questions, we use email.
  • Reminding others about tasks
  • Quick questions
  • Socializing
  • I find it hard to remember about a message if you already opened it.
  • You can't keep one message unread because if you open the message, it automatically marks it as read.
  • You can't delete a message that someone wrote to you.
  • I find it hard to respond to a previous message. To me, it's not very clear.
  • The chatting
  • Group messaging
  • It's great for tackling quick tasks.
  • It's great for keeping tabs on workmates and following up if tasks were completed.
  • The group messaging is great for keeping multiple team members informed of upcoming events and meetings.
  • Reminders are great for keeping track of tasks.
I believe sending an email is definitely a more professional form of communication. Slack is more like sending out a text for quick responses. Also, when sending an email, there are a lot more steps involved, like you need to compose an email, add senders, add a subject, etc. When sending a message on Slack, it's a quick click who you are sending to and you can start typing!

Do you think Slack delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Slack's feature set?

Yes

Did Slack live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Slack go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Slack again?

Yes

Slack is terrific for interaction with colleagues, but, in my opinion, it is not a very professional form of communication with a boss or manager. It's great for quick follow-up with a team member about where a project is going, letting them know of an upcoming meeting, sending files, etc. I believe an email is more sophisticated. I use email when I want to add more members to see my email. I use Slack when just asking one workmate a question.
