Overall Satisfaction with Slack

We use Slack as the main internal communication between ourselves. Email is used less and less to do so. It is great for formal and informal connections. It helps us to keep things separate, like the upcoming lunch event or the meeting for the next trade show. This is the best way we have found to do so.

Pros

  • compartmentalize activities
  • keep privacy for direct chats
  • simplicity for training new employees on use
  • saves time in communication efforts
  • saves time in training new employees in use
  • keeps us focused on activities with the channels
Simple to use and simple to show others how to use, By keeping direct messages and group (channel) messages separate, we are able to segment our work. That is, I check DMs often as they are usually more important than the channel messages.

Do you think Slack delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Slack's feature set?

Yes

Did Slack live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Slack go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Slack again?

Yes

Best suited for informal connections. Connections to your department or to your informal lunch group or to someone you just met who works on another floor. One of the best is a channel called, "Where are the donuts" which lets us know where there is free food. Less appropriate use would be for transmitting important or private documents. We still use email for that.
